Hello!

My name is LeTara Piña-Davis. I am currently a CPM and Licensed Homebirth Midwife in the state of Arkansas.
My journey to pursuing homebirth midwifery started at the age of 9 when I witnessed my mother give birth to my little brother at home. It was so normal and beautiful to bear witness to her giving new life. And I would go on to assist her giving birth 3 more times, as what would come to be known as a ‘doula’. I loved the work and the service, but never assumed that would be what I would pursue.
After graduating highschool and attending colloge, finally deciding that the arts and sciences were where I wanted to focus, I married and we quickly married and I became pregnant with my first baby.

One thing I had not understood as a child watching my mother discover and experience homebirth, was the amount of knowledge one needed to navigate the allopathic system of care. Nor did I realize how much it mattered to be informed in decision making .. I soon found out and switched plans to a homebirth in my third trimester. I had a very hard first labor, but I was reborn, I was new and different than before.

The next year (2009) I proceeded to seek out an apprenticeship with a local midwife and attended births with her for over a year until I became pregnant with my second baby. After she was born, I continued my education by attending Ancient Arts Midwifery Institute and taking any and all in and out of state continuing education, trainings and classes that I could. I have a thirst for knowledge and doubt I will ever stop learning!

I worked closely with an IBCLC ( Jennifer Tow) for 6 years where we developed protocols and dug through research involving breast health, breastfeeding, nutrigenomics, Tethered oral tissues, autoimmune and genetic disorders and complimentary therapies. In that time I also healed multiple health issues in myself and my children. I hosted and admined online support groups, coordinated milk sharing and helped parents learn how to heal their children.

After my son was born, I took 3.5 years to research and advocate for all my children’s health. They were eventually diagnosed with a rare metabolic disorder which we have been able to cope with fairly well. I learned a lot during that time; how to coordinate care with multiple providers, how to advocate for their health and safety, how to order, read and interpret complex lab work, and most importantly, how true it is that food is our medicine and the foundation of good health.

Over a decade of study and application has now culminated in pushing me towards becoming an Experienced herbalist and state licensed CPM. I hope that my knowledge and experience will be of service to my community for many years to come.
